Jordan Bateman is currently the youngest Councillor elected in Langley Township. Click here for more on Jordan's work in Langley Township.

Jordan was a reporter with The Langley Advance from 1996 to 2002 where he honed his skills as a writer and media relations expert. He was responsible for news gathering, interviewing, researching and writing for a variety of beats, including federal, provincial, and municipal politics and issues. Jordan also helped with photography, feature writing, column writing, page layout, editing stories, and other duties. His stories have appeared in the Surrey Now, Richmond News, Abbotsford Times, Maple Ridge Times, and other community newspapers.

For the paper, Langley's largest, he covered Township and City Hall, provincial issues, church issues, federal issues, and interviewed cabinet ministers, civic leaders, spiritual leaders, musicians, community volunteers, and many, many others. In his time at the paper, he worked to help a number of valuable causes, including the move towards palliative care in medicine, autistic children's issues, child literacy, and others. He organized the Langley Advance News All Star Basketball Classic series of high school exhibitions, put together a series of Advance News Freedom at the Fountain/Suburban Uproar concerts in downtown Langley, and launched the popular Kidstyle child literacy page.

In September 2002, he left the paper to launch his own small business, Outlawed Wonderings Media Group, a freelance writing and editing firm. The business has been powered by a founding contract with the New Hampshire-based Streams Ministries, and now an ongoing contract with Graham Cooke.

Jordan is the Vice President of BC Forests and Range Minister Rich Coleman’s Fort Langley-Aldergrove BC Liberal riding association, and acted as communications director during his 2005 re-election campaign.

Jordan is the author of Langley Politics Dotcom, which he co-founded with Sam Kirk in 2001.

Jordan graduated from Langley Secondary School in 1994, and from Langara College in 1996. He has lived in Langley, B.C. for twenty years.

He is also a registered marriage chaplain (wedding officiant), and regularly officiates at weddings throughout the Lower Mainland. Jordan is a member of the leadership team of Springbrook Church, a church plant launching in Langley in September 2006. In 2007, Christian Week newspaper named Jordan one of its top "35 under 35" young Christian leaders in Canada.

Jordan's wife of six years, Jennifer, is an employment counsellor in Langley, BC. She graduated from R.E. Mountain Secondary School and attended Western Pentecostal Bible College. They live in Murrayville with their daughters, Indiana and Danica.
